You can enter your location in the free Dyson Link app.

It adjusts the brightness and color temperature (warm/cold) to the current time of day at your location with its specially developed daylight tracking algorithm.

The result: the perfect light at any time of day!

In the early morning, it will have a relatively "cold light". That supports the hormone "cortisol" production, which gives you the "power boost" to start the day with more energy.

The later the day, the warmer the light - It significantly reduces the amount of blue light throughout the day. This promotes the production of the hormone "melatonin“ making us feel calmer and more relaxed.

We felt that, too. After about a month of testing, we became much "calmer" in the evening and fell asleep much better.

We also noticed that it wasn’t so hard on the eyes any more. Our eyes felt "tired", especially in the morning hours and in the evening when we used the old desk lamp.

But that’s in the past now, thanks to the Dyson Lightcycle Morph.

Testing the Dyson Lightcycle Morph for 3-months (review)

Our test team gave the Dyson Lightcycle Morph a go in a 3-month test.

Initial situation: We work at the computer most of the day - from early in the morning until late in the evening. We used a conventional lamp to illuminate the workspace before buying the Lightcycle Morph.

The conventional lamp served its purpose after all... (that’s what we thought at least).

But we were so wrong!

Now we know: Our desk lighting was inadequate!

In the early morning hours, we were able to concentrate very well because of the cold light.

Towards the evening, the light temperature decreases steadily. This is an excellent way to calm down, and the body can prepare itself for the evening or sleep.

Conclusion

To be honest, we were pretty sceptical in the beginning. After all, it's just light. What’s it supposed to do?

But now we know that the right lighting conditions have an enormous influence on our well-being, productivity and, in the long run, probably also on our health.

The smart light’s infrared motion sensor register when there is no movement for 5 minutes... and then switches off automatically.

Think about it: how often do you leave your desk and forget to switch off the lamp?

That happens quite often to us.

A slight drawback: The proximity sensor is not that sensitive. If you sit very still while reading, the lamp may turn itself off after 5 minutes. Then you just have to move your hand a little, and the light goes on again. This happened very rarely, so it’s not a big deal.

P.S.: That didn’t happen when we were working on the computer!

Are there any differences?

No, at least not in the scope of functions - it’s identical for both models.

There’s only a difference in the size (floor lamp: 126 cm, desk lamp: 52 cm) and price.

Since we are primarily in home office these days, we’ve come to know and love the Dyson Lightcycle Morph as a desk lamp.

The Dyson Lightcycle Morph will be an absolute eye-catcher in your home.

The Dyson Lightcycle Morph is available in two versions:

• Desk lamp (126 cm high)

• Floor lamp (52 cm high)

And these colours are available:

• Work lamp: White/Silver and Black

• Floor lamp: White/Silver, Black and Black/Brass

The lamp consists of 3 components: Stand, lamp shaft with holes and a swivelling arm, including the lampshade with 6 LED lights.

The stand provides a steadfast hold. The stability is vital for 360-degree manoeuvrability.

The long lamp stem is connected to the base. It’s made of high-quality aluminium and has many holes that have their unique function. You can "dock" the LED module onto the shaft with the magnetic construction.

This way, you can redirect the light into the stand. Then you have beautiful ambient light. See for yourself...

P.S.: You couldn't find a power cable so far? That’s exactly how the manufacturer intended.

The cables run almost "invisibly" in the lamp shaft...

Furthermore, there is a USB-C connection. With this, you can charge yourt smartphone or laptop.

You can adjust the light 100% the way you want it, thanks to its ingenious design.

You can rotate both the lamp shaft...

This way, you have the maximum flexibility to adjust the light exactly the way you want it.

Fast and Practical!

The "heat pipe" technology is inside the swivel arm and ensures optimal cooling of the LEDs.

The operating units are also here. We’ll talk about that later in the chapter "Control and operation".

When we used very bright light settings, we noticed that the lamp arm became slightly warmer. We asked Dyson, and they assured us that it’s completely normal.

The lampshade is round and contains 6 LEDs (3 cold and 3 warm LEDs).

The "lampshade" is relatively small. That way, it concentrates the light so there won’t be any scattering loss.

Conclusion

We are thrilled with the appearance and finish of the Dyson Lightcycle Morph lamp. Even the smallest detail is well-thought-out and of high quality.

It’s a "design product" that perfectly combines technology and aesthetics.

The Dyson lightcycle morph floor lamp is an excellent addition for modern furnished flats.

Without a doubt: The lamp is an absolute eye-catcher and visually enhances every room. It guarantees curious looks and questions when friends come over :).

Control via control units on the lamp

You can set most functions conveniently via touch controls on the lamp itself.

You have the following options:

• (1) Automatic mode on/off: It automatically adjusts the lamp’s brightness to your surroundings.

• (2) Activate/deactivate motion sensor: When activated, the lamp switches off automatically if it doesn’t register any movements for 5 minutes. If you approach the table again, the light switches on automatically.

• (3) Daylight adjustment: This function adjusts the brightness and colour temperature dynamically throughout the day according to the time of day.

• (4) button to adjust the colour temperature (2700 - 6500 Kelvin)

• (5) Button to adjust the lamp’s brightness

• (6) On/Off button: It’s directly on the lamp head.

Dyson Link app - control via mobile phone

You can access the full functionality of the Dyson Lightcycle light via the Dyson lightcycle morph app. The app is for Apple's iPhone (iOS) and Android smartphones.

The set-up is child's play:

• Activate Bluetooth on your mobile phone.

• Open the app.

• Select the "Lamp" tab.

• The Dyson Lightcycle Morph directly pops up. You can connect it by "clicking" on the light.

• Done.

You connect the Lightcycle Morph with the Dyson Link App via Bluetooth. Unfortunately, you can’t "fully" integrate it into your connected home ("smart home").

A Wi-Fi-connection would have been better. There’s room for improvement here.

It didn't bother us that much because we use the lamp only in "auto mode".

However, there’s also an upside to the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity. This way, there’s no connection to the internet, and your data is 100% safe. It’s an immense advantage for people with privacy concerns.

Dyson Link app - functions and settings

The app is a real highlight. You can adjust the Dyson Lightcycle Morph lamp even more to your individual needs with it.

You can switch the lamp on/off via the app and regulate the colour brightness and colour temperature.

Furthermore, the app has several preset "modes" that you can choose. No matter what you want to do, you’ll always have the right light at hand.

• Work mode: This mode comes in handy if you work a lot at your desk. It adjusts the light throughout the day so that you always have the optimal lighting conditions at your workspace.

• Relax mode: This setting provides pleasant warm light that’s perfect for reading a book, for example.

• Precision mode: This mode provides a very intense light (colour rendering index of over 90 CRI). It works great for making precise drawings, for example.

• Boost mode: The Dyson Lightcycle switches to a very intense setting (additional 400 lumens and 2000 Kelvin). You can use this mode for 20 minutes only. Then the LEDs need to “rest”, so the light intensity slowly returns to the standard-setting.

• Daylight tracking: The Dyson Lightcycle Morph automatically adjusts the lighting conditions (brightness and colour temperature) to the daylight. You can also choose which mode the light should adopt after sunset in the Dyson Link app.

• Create your own modes: You can also define and save individual lighting conditions (brightness, color temperature). You can even name it so you can always find it fast.

We’ll describe a few more setting options shortly below:

• Age adjustment: You can enter your year of birth in the Dyson Link app. The older we get, the more light our eyes need, right? That’s why it adjusts the light’s brightness and color temperature to your age with this setting.

• Activate wake-up mode: It simulates sunrise at a specified time.

• Activate sleep mode: It simulates sunset at whatever time you set it. It also switches off the motion sensor.

• Absence mode: If you set the lamp to "absence mode", the light switches itself on and off again at irregular intervals. That simulates the presence of people and keeps burglars from entering the house.

• Tips for use: You can find more valuable tips in the chapter "Using the lamp.”

Conclusion on the Dyson Link app

The Dyson Link app works excellent.

You can access many great functions and settings in the app that adapt the lamp’s use to your personal needs.

It’s got the perfect combination of functionality and user-friendliness.

The only downside is that you connect it via Bluetooth (instead of Wi-Fi).

Nevertheless, it’s a slight disadvantage. There’s room for improvement.

The Dyson Lightcycle Morph is available in two versions: desk lamp and floor lamp.

The floor lamp is much bigger and also more expensive.

The Dyson Lightcycle Morph is certainly not for bargain hunters. It’s super expensive.

Nevertheless, we think that the Lightcycle Morph is worth it.

For one thing, the LEDs last 60 years. That means you certainly won't have to worry about a new lamp in the next few years.

You’ll also have a hard time finding a better/smarter lamp on the market. The light helps to protect your eyes and your health. And as we all know, you shouldn't save on the wrong end - health.

That makes the Dyson Lightcycle Morph a good investment (especially in the long term).
